Weeds Creator Jenji Kohan Sets Up Women-in-Prison Show with Netflix and Lionsgate

Jenji Kohan Netflix and Lionsgate TV are finalizing a deal to distribute a 13-episode series from Weeds creator Jenji Kohan, Deadline reports. Orange Is the New Black chronicles a woman who spends a year in a minimum-security prison after she's convicted in a drug smuggling and money laundering scheme. The series is based on the Piper Kerman memoir of the same name. Orange is the second original series that Netflix has green-lit. Earlier this year the company bought House of Cards from Kevin Spacey and David Fincher.
